Aluminos Continues Gaining Victories and Podium Results in 2015

Aluminos LogoThe Aluminos name is well-established in the sport of karting here in the United States, and the last two years has been about developing their own chassis brand. Reaching its inaugural victory at the 2013 Superkarts! USA Pro Tour SpringNationals. Aluminos has continued to win races and help drivers reach the podium from the local level to the biggest stage of the sport. That type of success has been on display during the first half of the 2015 season.

Carlos Calderon, Will Preston, and Jim Kidd have led the Aluminos brand at the California ProKart Challenge program. Calderon opened up the season with a victory in Buttonwillow, making his TaG Master debut, adding a runner-up finish at the last round of competition. Preston and Kidd notched their first wins of the season at the most recent event at the Simraceway Performance Karting Center on June 6. Preston has continued development under the Aluminos banner, clinching his first in the S2 Semi-Pro division. Kidd is among the new drivers moving over to the S4 Super Master division, earning his first win in the category at his home track.

The Aluminos chassis is available in all sizes, including the Estoril Cadet model. During the California PKC weekend, two drivers carried the Aluminos colors. Ethan Tavares has been inside the top-10 of the new TaG Cadet Rookie category all season, earning another solid result. Sebastian Mulder joined him for his first SKUSA event, placing ninth in the main event. Aluminos has always represented well in the Masters category, featuring some of the best in the country. Former S2 standout Matt Alcorn has returned to karting, joining Aluminos for the first time. He was among the contenders for a podium finish in his SKUSA S4 Master debut until contact in the final took him out of the running. Former SKUSA Pro Tour G1 champion Fernando Diaz earned his best result of the season in seventh. Jeremy Hillhouse made his SKUSA debut in TaG Master alongside Calderon, just missing the top-five by one position.

Every month, you can find the Aluminos trailer at the Simraceway facility, supporting the many drivers that compete in the Sanzaru Games Karting Championship. The Aluminos brand has been successful thus far after three events, including new team driver Cody Hodgson. The native Hawaiian calls the NorCal area home, and scored the Stock Honda Pro victory in his debut with Aluminos back in April. Former series champion Jason Toft returned for his first event of 2015, placing runner-up during the May event. Alcorn recorded two runner-up results in his first events back in the Stock Honda Masters category. Billy Scott also has two second-place finishes to his credit in the Rotax Masters division. New and returning drivers continue to add themselves to the Aluminos family.

Recently, the Aluminos operation traveled to the Thunderhill Raceway Park for the Northern California Karters road racing event on May 30. A handful of drivers joined the team in Willows, California, an hour north of Sacramento. Three of the drivers making up the Aluminos contingent left with victories. Both Mike McDonough and Dave Conyers left with heat race wins in the Super Stock CR125 category, while Jonathon Allen earned a victory in the Formula 125 Limited Heavy.

The Aluminos brand made its debut at the SKUSA Pro Tour SummerNationals back in 2013, and has continued to show strong on the national scene. Kiwi driver Matt Hamilton has notched a SuperNationals victory to his credit, and is now taking on the top drivers in the S1 Pro Stock Moto category aboard the Aluminos chassis. Hamilton was among the contenders in Phoenix at the recent SpringNationals, placing inside the top-five. Italian driver Gian Cavaciuti is the defending S4 Master Stock Moto champion, piloting an Aluminos for the 2015 campaign. Gian drove to two podium finishes at the PKRA facility in his Aluminos debut. Daniel de la Calle added another podium result for Aluminos in the S2 Semi-Pro division. It was a solid drive to a third place finish on Sunday, bouncing back from issues during the Saturday round of racing. Jason Pettit is among the championship contenders in the S5 Junior Stock Moto category. Pettit landed on the third step of the podium, and is tied for second in the standings following his weekend performance.

Drivers can be part of the Aluminos operation at any of the events in 2015. Locally with the Sanzura Games Karting Championship, regionally at the California ProKart Challenge, and travel with the team on the Superkarts! USA Fikse Wheels Pro Tour. Upcoming is the Sanzura Games event on July 11-12 at Simraceway. The sixth annual SummerNationals are set for July 24-26 at the New Castle Motorsports Park, with Aluminos gearing for more podiums at the SKUSA Pro Tour. In August, the California PKC program returns to action at the historic Adams Motorsports Park on August 28-29.
